Ruzana Grigorian

Russian mezzo-soprano Ruzana Grigorian is a graduate of the Mozarteum University Salzburg and a former member of the International Opera Studio at Staatsoper Hamburg. Since 2020, she has been engaged at Staatsoper Hannover, where she has established herself across a broad mezzo-soprano repertoire.

At Staatsoper Hannover, Ms. Grigorian has appeared in numerous leading and supporting roles, including Amneris in Aida (2023/24), Carmen in Carmen (2020, 2023/24), Olga in Eugene Onegin (2021–2024), Maddalena in Rigoletto(2021/22, 2024/25), Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel (multiple seasons), Emilia in Otello (2021/22), and Frau des Gewürzhändlers in Israel in Egypt (2024/25). She has also performed as Mrs. Alexander in Satyagraha, the Third Secretary in Nixon in China, the Foreign Princess in Rusalka, Mere Jeanne in Dialogues des Carmélites, and the Younger Daughter in The Tale of Tsar Saltan.

During her time in Hamburg (2017–2019), Ms. Grigorian sang a variety of roles, including Maddalena (Rigoletto), Flora (La Traviata), Wowkle (La Fanciulla del West), Siebel (Faust), Zaida (Il Turco in Italia), and Laura (Luisa Miller), as well as roles in Die Zauberflöte, Hansel und Gretel, and Miriways. Earlier engagements include Olga (Eugene Onegin) at the Mozarteum Salzburg and Theater Orfey.

Her concert appearances include Verdi’s Messa da Requiem at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona and Mozart’s Requiem in Berlin, both in 2019.

Ms. Grigorian is a recipient of several international accolades, including First Prize at the International “Nuovo Canto” Competition in Milan (2018), finalist of the 55th Francesco Viñas Competition in Barcelona (2018), and Third Prize at the 28th International Competition “Spazio Musica” (2023).
